Latex Mattress - Is Natural Best?

Are you ready to go shopping for a new latex mattress? You should probably also take a look at some latex foam mattresses. But don't assume this automatically means that such products are made from natural materials. As a matter of fact, there is a synthetically made material that is more popular. Although natural latex comes from the sap of rubber trees, a synthetic form produced from petrochemicals, is a popular substitute. So as you investigate buying your mattress, you'll need to inform yourself about the different kinds of latex.

Two distinct processes are involved in creating latex mattresses. The Standard method involves using liquid, either the rubber sap or the petrochemical material, is turned into a froth, creating a huge volume of air bubbles that gives the foam mattress its special properties. The liquid material is poured into a mold, then sealed and heated until it transforms into the final finished mattress form. In the Talalay method, the mold contains countless tiny pinprick spikes that make extra little channels for air to move through. The latex foam mattress created using the Talalay method, tends to be more resilient and buoyant.

Apparently, natural latex can work with either the Standard method as well as the Talalay method of creating a latex mattress. Most people want to know why anyone would want to use the synthetic version of the material at all. Most people would probably prefer to use natural latex. But one of the reasons natural latex isn't preferred is because latex made from petrochemicals is more comfortable. And that explains why the majority of foam mattresses are made with synthetic latex.

The end result of all this is that before you buy a latex mattress, do some research, as it is an absolute must. If natural latex is infused with natural oils, then it can be as comfortable as an all-synthetic mattress or even a memory foam bed. But even if the mattress has a "green" label, it might still contain some petrochemicals. So you need to watch for all of these things as you head out mattress shopping. Do some searching and find out about both the manufacturers and their products, and discover the process and the materials they used. If you buy a foam bed, you want to know what you're getting before you take it home.

Once you know the facts, making an intelligent decision should be much easier for you to make. And as better materials are developed, there may be even better options for you.
